EPAD KVS Controller Released
|
EPAD is the new
generation compact kitchen video controller from MicroPlus.
EPAD replaces the MPAD Plus, providing the same powerful display
features running on a stronger platform with a removable compact
flash (CF) card. Benefits of the new EPAD include:
- Software
updates, if required, can be done easily using the CF card, in
most cases without the assistance of an onsite service
technician. (MPAD Plus updates require a PC and
Hyperterminal.)
- The
EPAD features standard VESA mounting, making installation
cleaner and easier.
- EPAD
controllers are priced the same as the MPAD Plus controller.
CRS will transition from the MPAD Plus to the EPAD
as soon as new inventory is received from MicroPlus. Watch
for more information and EPAD support documentation in the dealer
area of www.crs-usa.com.

Why Kitchen
Video?
|
- Video
is cleaner, faster and paperless.
- KV
is becoming more affordable. The cost-effective EPAD is
considerably less that systems requiring full size PCs
equipped with video boards. Flat panel monitors are
becoming more affordable. Cost effective ECR-based
systems will drive KV systems, in fact most ECRs (such as the
SAM4s ER-5200M) that will send orders to a KP will drive the
EPAD kitchen video.
- KV
provides features printers can't match ...
- Production
Statistics with prep time data.
- Key
Item summaries that keep your cooks posted with the total
number of menu items in the system-in addition to individual
orders.
- Real
Time display for faster delivery to the kitchen or prep
area.
- Touch
KV: Touch screens can be used instead of traditional
bump bars.

Kitchen
Video Tech Tips
|
When installing KV with the SPS-2000, the
recommended settings are for "Real-Time" and the
"Use KVS Refresh" option set to Yes. (See P/SYSTEM
OPTIONS/KITCHEN PRINTING/VIDEO OPTIONS.) This provides the
fastest method to route to the KV and is continuously updated if
any condiment changes or voids are entered.
- To
use the "KVS Refresh" feature with the older tower
systems, you must upgrade the floppy software.
- Any
system, such as the ER-5200M, that runs the KV using kitchen
printer output must be set to "batch" mode.
